update Georgia Rucker Design has moved offices/states! Please email for current mailing address (phone is same)--- updated website to come soon, featuring many new books and other projects.

Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of web intros. After 13 great years of designing in New York City, I've relocated to Madison, Wisconsin, where I continue to work as a freelance designer/illustrator --- same name: Georgia Rucker Design (since 2004); same phone (see above right); new address (please email me for mailing info).

From 1998 - 2003, I co-owned Pink Design, Inc. (site at www.pinkdesigninc.com). And before that, I art directed a webzine called www.stim.com and took on assorted freelance design jobs (which included The Happy Mutant Handbook, my first book gig; and Star Wars Kids magazine).

I design and illustrate books, catalogs, posters, logos --- take a look around this site and you'll see a varied collection of work. Increasingly I'm hired to do both illustration and design, though the majority of my work is still design. For some projects, it makes sense to intertwine illustration and graphic design; but for others, it's good to let the photos and/or words speak on their own. It all depends on the intended audience, the client's message, the materials available. I strive to let the content guide me, and not let style overcome it. And, always, I'm eager to discuss the project with my clients and look forward to feedback. As a designer, I hope to be able to tackle ANYTHING - whether redesigning a non-profit's logo to designing a PEOPLE magazine book. I'm flexible.

My book clients include: Avalon Books; DK Publishing; Downtown Bookworks Inc.; Hearst Books; Little, Brown & Company; Scholastic; Simon and Schuster; Time Inc.; Watson-Guptill; Penguin Books; and Random House. Additional clients include: the American Camping Association; the Bowery Residents' Committee; The Educational Alliance; the 14th Street Y; the New York League of Conservation Voters; and a host of small, independent companies and individuals.

Let me know what you're looking for, and I'll make it splendid.

Feel free to email or call (info is at top on right). Portfolio available upon request.
